Notes

The priest and poet Petter Dass (1647-1707) is a legendary, nearly mythological figure in Northen Norway. In these verses he complains bitterly about the lousy treatment he got while visititing some of the - let's say rustic - people in the country. Neither the food nor the bedding was to his liking. I have more or less kept the original spelling which is rather different from modern Norwegian.
